While in Alaska, we decided to spend 3 days in Denali National Park and were blown away by the beauty and natural preservation of wildlife and scenery. A 3-day Denali itinerary is a perfect amount of time to explore the nature and wildlife (at a distance!) and understand why it 1 of the 8 national parks in Alaska.
Denali is one of the most popular attractions in Alaska, and that is for good reason! While driving on the park road, I was in awe of the various mountain ranges that truly seemed like I was looking into a pastel drawing with the beautiful sunrise. How To Spend 3 Days In Denali National Park
Denali National Park is the number one tourist attraction and rightfully so! The beautiful mountain landscapes and the exciting wildlife around you make for a very adventurous trip. Listed below is how I would split up a Denali 3-day itinerary.
Denali Day 1: Explore the Park
Denali National Park Activities

Wildlife Tour
We started our first full day by taking the Denali Tundra Wilderness Tour. We were shocked to learn that our time slot was auto-generated at 4:30 am. Despite the early wake-up call, I was glad we were able to get an early start and get a BEAUTIFUL sunrise.
This was a great addition to our 3-day itinerary in Denali since we were traveling with my grandma and the excursion did not require a lot of strenuous activity. While on the tour, we saw a few moose, a fox, birds, dall sheep, and even two grizzly bears! Our tour guide was great at spotting wildlife and very informative Denali’s landscape.
Note: The probability of seeing wildlife (even bears) is very high! While visiting, keep out for the “big 5”, which includes: dall sheep, grizzly bears, moose, caribou, and wolves. We were lucky to see 4/5, not catching a glimpse of any wolves.

Visit the Denali Sled Dogs
One way that Denali preserves the traditions of the past is by continuing to use sled dogs to patrol the park’s boundaries. During the summer months, you can visit the sled dog kennel and say hello to the dogs. You may also get lucky like we did and meet one of the newest sled puppies!
If you want to learn more about the sled dogs, there are live demonstrations daily. Visit Denali’s park site to get the times and bus schedule to watch the demonstration and meet the sweet dogs.
Denali Dining
We went to Prospectors Pizza, and it was absolutely delicious! Other dining options in Denali include:
Note: If you are traveling with a larger party, you may want to make reservations to avoid long wait times. Even though there are quality food options, the amount of restaurants to visitors ration is lacking.
Denali Day 2: Get Ready For Adventure
Breakfast
You need to fuel up for your adventurous day by either loading up at your hotel breakfast or by visiting The Black Bear. This breakfast and lunch spot is so delicious, and everything is handmade. If anything, this is a great place to stop for a specialty coffee!

Biking along the highway multi-use trail (1.7 miles paved along the main road) is perfect for views of the surrounding mountain ranges and the Nenana River. You can continue into Denali National Park utilizing the park road up to mile 42.
Day 3: Denali Town Shops and Any Other Activities You Missed
How else would you commemorate your 3 days in Denali without a souvenir? Denali town is located on Parks Highway and features a small line of gift shops, art galleries, and other stores for you to peruse. I got a small art print from Kantishna Gallery that is a perfect addition to my house and a great way to remember my trip!
